Kitesurfing in Mauritius
I booked a last minute trip kitesurfing in Mauritius when the opportunity arose. This resulted in a slight problem when I arrived at Immigration without anywhere to stay! The officials were suspicious of me for some reason and the only way they would let me in was if I booked some accommodation on the spot. Without internet access at the airport the only option was a 5* hotel so I decided what the hell I’d slum it…
Kitesurfing at Le Morne
The southern west tip of Mauritius is home to Le Morne a World Heritage Site with one of the most amazing backdrop’s to a kitesurfing location I have ever been. It’s a perfect spot with a shallow bay to the southern beach ideal for beginners. To the west lie flat, crystal clear waters covering colourful corals which extend all the way out to the main reef. This creates a great swell for wave riding. Looking back to land you see a perfect palm tree lined white beach with lush green jagged mountains behind.
